January 20th, 2016 - Competing in a shortened season of only seven races, Tony Knowles had three rainouts throughout the season along with one top ten finish at Screven Motor Speedway (Sylvania, Georgia) for the World of Outlaws Late Model Series sanctioned event.
The $3,000-to-win program drew a field of twenty-six Super Late Models to the oval, and struggles in qualifications positioned Knowles deep on the feature grid. When the race went green, Tony began progressively working his way through the field until disaster stuck in the closing laps. A large clod struck the driver's compartment of Knowles' #26 entry, bringing his night to a terrifying end. Full results from the event can be found at www.DixieSpeedway.com.
The $3,000-to-win program saw a field of twenty-five Super Late Models registering for battle. After locking into the main event via time trials, Knowles raced his way to an eleventh place finish in the final rundown. Full results from the event can be found at www.DixieSpeedway.com.
More information will be posted as it becomes available.
Forty-three UMP Super Late Models filled the pit area as Knowles piloted a back-up entry owned by Shane Clanton in the $7,000-to-win program. After failing to reach a transfer position in his heat race, Tony was sent to a b-main. Unfortunately, a mechanical failure on his #25 Capital Race Cars entry during the b-main would bring his night and week to an early end.
